Some day, I will write that epic love letter to Jane Eyre. I am the
biggest fan of how Jane Eyre’s entire existence was a beautiful fuck you to the
then society’s ideals of what a proper woman should be.Apparently, no one had
told Jane Eyre that you couldn’t be: a woman, ugly, poor, smart, opinionated,
confident and dare to be ungrateful for the love of a rich married manipulative
man with a raging lunatic wife locked up in the attic (read: refuse to have
your worth tied to a man). Jane Eyre was the first true iconoclast and feminist
icon I ever came across. One of my favorite literary characters of all time and
a permanent WCW.
